CURRENT PROJECTS AND PARTNERS

USAID 4TheChild is a five-year- (2021-2026) PEPFAR-funded project, through USAID/Kenya and East Africa, implemented by Moi University College of Health Science (MUCHS) in a consortium with Kenya Community Development Foundation (KCDF) and Make Me Smile-Kenya (MMS-K). The project is implemented in Kisumu and Siaya counties. The name is derived from its Kiswahili title-Tuungane Tulinde Tuwekeze Tuboreshe Afya na Elimu ya Mtoto-which in English means “coming together to protect, invest and improve the health and education of the child” its goal is to increase the use of quality county-led health and social services in Kisumu and Siaya Counties, (i) increasing access and demand to quality HIV prevention services for adolescent girls and young women (AGYW) in Kisumu(Kisumu West Sub County) and entire Siaya County, (ii) increasing access to quality health and social services for orphans and vulnerable children (OVC) and their families in Kisumu and Siaya counties (iii) Strengthen the capacity of Local Social Services Systems and Structures to Support OVC Services USAID 4TheChild American Response Plan Act (ARPA) PROJECT- On 11th March 2021, the United States President, Joe Biden, signed the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) of 2021 into law. The $1.9 trillion package, based on President Biden’s American Rescue Plan, is intended to combat the COVID-19 pandemic. GZA s in partnership with Moi University College of Health Science (MUCHS). The project is running for one year (July 2021-June 2022) implemented in Kisumu County-Seme and Kisumu West sub-counties. The project focuses on Service delivery, Demand Creation & National level support including training. The project achieves this by (i) Accelerating widespread and equitable access to and delivery of safe and effective COVID-19 vaccinations, (ii) Reducing morbidity and mortality from COVID-19, mitigating transmission, and strengthening health systems, including preventing, detecting, and responding to threats. The U.S. Peace Corps: Peace Corps Volunteers (PCVs) work in partnership with GZA to enhance the capacity of the organization, ultimately promoting an understanding of the epidemic and encouraging the adoption of healthier behaviors. PCVs provide long-term capacity development support to GZA, with particular emphasis on ensuring that our community-initiated projects and programs provide holistic support to people living with and affected by HIV/AIDS. PCVs helps GZA play a unique role in targeting hard-to-reach populations and instituting change through sustainable community efforts. GZA has partnered with a number of organizations implementing various programs to serve and the community. This includes, but not limited to implementing:

CRS USAID MWENDO OVC project implemented in Kisumu county- April 2018-September 2021. Project covers Kisumu East Sub county,-North West, South West Kisumu and Kisumu North wards (totalling to four wards).
